Back in the saddle

It's been too long - even I'll admit that! After returning from the South Coast (and having a wonderful 30th - thanks for all of the good wishes/prezzies/cards/calls) we spent the next week packing and moving out of our former abode into our fabulous new place by the beach - maroubra beach to be specific. And then the past few weeks trying to unpack, set up the phone and 'net and having a combination 30th b'day/housewarming party last weekend.

The place is new to us, but the building is actually a lovely old art deco-ish block of two flats. We are upstairs while Simon's sister and her family reside downstairs. Eliza totally digs having her cousins just a staircase away, and Mabel (the chicken) not only has a new yard, she also has a new friend. That's right, there's a new chicken on the block. Finbar, Eliza's 3 year old cousin has suggested we name the new gal Rosie, but I'm not sure that would be very respectful of the memory of the old Rosie. Plus the neighbour's dog is named Rosie. The chicken has since been dubbed Latoya (long story) and if someone doesn't it name it something else quick I think Latoya will stick.

So for tonight it's getting late (almost 9!) but soon I'm going to take pictures of the new place and it's most important resident ('liza - of course) and post them. The little peanut is doing well: crawling like a champ, chatting away madly and waving, attempting to clap, and charming everyone in her path. She's getting over the worst cold she's ever had, which hit her on the day of our party and gave her rivers of green snot and a temperature. Now there's a cough and a bit of snot remaining, but she's a much happier kid. Her favourite things at the moment:
playing in the water
waving to herself in the mirror
crawling with a fistful of food as it collects dog hair and then chewing on said fistful
pulling up to stand using any unstable surface
peek-a-boo
