We've been spending Eliza's first Christmas on the South Coast at Simon's mum's farm. Our plans were to set up camp down by the creek for three nights - a sort of trial camping with a baby - but after a late Christmas lunch we didn't set up camp until yesterday. And we've already moved back to the house. Eliza slept wonderfully the first night at the house, but unseasonably cold weather and I think the unfamiliarity of a tent and lots of strange night noises meant she was up and hysterical many times last night. She only eventually slept beside me in my arms, and a baby between us on an air mattress with not enough blankets to keep us warm did not make for a comfortable night's sleep!
So when given the choice between another night in the tent or a night in a comfortable bed with a (hopefully) sleeping baby in the next room, I chose the latter. Otherwise she's been having a great time though, loving walks through the paddock, crawling (!) everywhere and watching the big rooster with a wary eye. Here's a picture of her from about a month ago that her grandma Salla took. I think it's just lovely.
