...now that Eliza's got her two front (bottom) teeth is nothing really. I'm a pretty lucky girl and there's not a whole lot I desire, other than news from my loved ones. We started a tradition a few years ago of giving money to charity instead of buying Christmas presents for our Australian relatives - especially as that side of the family always has a "no presents except for the kiddies" rule. For the last few years we did Oxfam Unwrapped, in which you give the gift of a goat, cow, seeds, chickens, etc in someone's honour to a needy village or community overseas. It's a lovely idea and sends a card to let you inform someone that you've donated in their name.
This year, though, I felt there was another, more urgent campaign. The Japanese government's whaling fleet has just embarked on it's largest season since the 1986 whaling ban and plans to kill more than 1000 of these beautiful creatures in the Southern Ocean, including threatened humpback whales and endangered fin whales. So this year we've donated to Greenpeace Australia Pacific's campaign to save the whales - they have a ship that follows the Japanese whaler and they use direct non-violent action to get their inflatable boats between the harpoons and the whales. Help them reach their $50,000 target by donating to www.greenpeace.org.au/secure/appeal/whales

What a beautiful thing that you and Simon do for Christmas. This year we gave money to "NothingButNets" which provides malaria nets in Africa which can save thousands of people and is so expensive individually.
