Tragedy at VT
Horrible to wake up this morning and hear the news about Virginia Tech - not to mention surreal from this side of the world. Anyway, here's a piece that I wrote for the Bulletin online (Australia's Newsweek) about it today. More a personal reaction than anything else...
You are able to express such emotions with your words. You are your mother's daughter in so far as you both write so beautifully from the heart and help us, the reader, to feel what you feel. Beautiful!
The journalist in you can do an amazingly speedy production; the poet in you manages to evoke the shock and shattered nostalgia. You're definitely a better writer than your mom!
