Go Mabel Go!

Or Rosie. I don't know who laid it, but yesterday we got our first double-yolker. The egg looked like it had been laid by a much bigger bird (like an emu) - it was enormous. Then, while I was at work, S cracked it for his lunch. Here's what he found:



Very exciting. Double the protein. Let's hope there's more where that one came from. It made me wonder, though, whether it's painful for chickens to lay eggs? Especially those double-yolkers.

Ouch! But then again, just think about the relative size of a baby to the birth canal ... on second thoughts, don't think about it.
